Rob is the Lead Technologist in Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology. He is involved in developing new programmes to help groups from multiple sectors explore the potential of this technology to unlock economic growth for the UK. Prior to joining the Catapult, Rob co-founded the Imperial College Centre for Cryptocurrency Research and Engineering in 2014, aiming to create a cross-disciplinary academic focal point for blockchain research in London, and has been following developments across this sector ever since. He is an active member of the UK Government’s Blockchain APPG and the Community of Interest in the subject, and has been invited to speak on the transformative potential of blockchain and distributed ledger technology at multiple international events.

In his talk, Andrew Lindsey will discuss how Alpha Corporation is assessing the distributed autonomous organisation (DAO) model in facility management through the use of smart contracts, blockchain enabled procurement, ledgered asset and claims history, and digital wallets. Through this, Andrew will outline Alpha’s approach through risk management and liability, their challenges to implementation, and legal considerations for personal data management when operating internationally.

After nearly a decade as a serial entrepreneur in the media and technology sectors, Andrew Lindsey now serves as the Director of Applied Research and Development at Alpha Corporation, a multidisciplinary construction consulting firm located in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. Since joining Alpha, Andrew has focused his strategic efforts on identifying growth opportunities in domestic and international markets with an emphasis on technology and sustainability in the built environment.

MALACHY MATHEWS [TU DUBLIN]
Having had a 35 year career straddling both the design and construction industries, Malachy brings unique insights into teaching. He started full time lecturing in TU Dublin in 2007 and has overseen the move from 2d representation to 3d simulation in the Architectural Technology program. Malachy played a central role in the creation of Ireland’s first MSc in applied Building Information Modelling/Management. He is currently a PhD candidate at TU Dublin researching BIM Anthropology with a side research interest in the synergies between BIM and Blockchain. He is a founding board member of ICAT (International Congress for Architectural Technology) and is the BIM Integration Advisor for IEBC (Integrated Engineering Blockchain Consortium).

Blockchain And Supply Chains: An EU Perspective
As the ECR Group Coordinator for the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee, Emma has been the lead MEP in the group on Trade matters. Having argued strongly for the adoption of blockchain technology in this capacity, she will share her experiences and convey the EU’s perspective on the regulatory and business potential aspects of blockchain in supply chains and international trade.
About Emma
Emma was first elected as a Member of the European Parliament representing the UK in 2009. In 2014 she was re-elected as one of five elected MEPs for the East Midlands region. She is the ECR Coordinator on INTA (Committee on International Trade), a substitute member on IMCO (Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection), a substitute member on CULT (Committee on Culture and Education), a Member of the delegation to the US, and Co-Treasurer of the ECR (European Conservatives and Reformists) Group. She is also Chair of the Commonwealth Forum.
Having joined the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee in early 2012, Emma was appointed as the ECR Group Coordinator for the committee in 2014, meaning that she is the lead MEP in the Group on Trade matters. She has argued strongly in favour of the adoption of blockchain technology to help boost international trade.

Marta serves as the Director of Ecosystem at Hyperledger. Marta obtained her BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Warsaw University of Technology and a double Master from Computer Science and Informatics at Technical University of Berlin and Warsaw University of Technology. Marta received PhD in User-Informed Design of Privacy Tools while working at one of the hottest startups in Sillicon Valley – Blockstream. Marta also taught at Technical University of Berlin as a Post-doc. As part of her role in Hyperledger Marta evangelizes the technology and Opensource at conferences around the world and helps enterprises with applying permissioned Blockchains to their use-cases.

Sylvain is the director of the master's degree specialising in construction project management in BIM and numerical modelling at the CESI engineering school. He worked for ten years in project management (design and execution) before joining the CESI to accompany the engineering school on project engineering topics. He has a doctorate in education and has specialised in educational engineering issues. His current work focuses on change management, the smart city and the integration of digital in construction companies and their projects.

Fernando leads the All Party Parliamentary Group on Blockchain (APPG Blockchain), ensuring it is designed and delivered in accordance with the vision of the APPG Chairs, Officers, and Advisors. As part of his core responsibilities, Fernando conducts the background research and compiles the evidence gathered by the group in order to inform Parliamentarians and other key stakeholders. He also runs the Blockchain for Government Council programme. He is in charge of the design planning and delivery of the projects under the umbrella of APPG on Blockchain as Blockchain Live Showcase along with the Big Innovation Centre Team.

Richard Gilbert Saxon CBE is the Chair of the Join Contracts Tribunal (JCT). He was chairman of Building Design Partnership (BDP), chairman of BE (a fore-runner of Constructing Excellence), a vice-president of the Royal Institute of British Architects (2002-2008), Master of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects (2005-2006), and president of the British Council for Offices (1995-1996). He was awarded CBE in 2001 for services to British architecture and construction.

Duncan is Professor of Connected Environments at the UCL Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis. His research focuses on how emerging technologies such as connected sensors and cognitive computing can augment our understanding of the built and natural environment.
The Connected Environments research at CASA feeds into the Future Living Institute at UCL East and focuses on three core research vectors; cognitive computing - AI at the edge of the network on resource constrained devices; extra sensory computing - novel methods for capturing data and humans receiving it; and spatial reasoning systems - how we can augment / improve our world models with continuous post occupancy information.
