About Projects

The Construction Blockchain Consortium (CBC) explores the adaptability of technology solutions, generic enablers, and the translation of use cases from other industries, such as aviation, to the construction sector. Intellectual Property (IP) arising from projects is subject to evaluation by the CBC's Steering Committee, with potential IP distribution between academic and industrial partners based on research and commercial utilization needs.

CBC conducts Hackathons, expediting the development of open-source Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and Blockchain solutions tailored for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. This collaborative effort embraces a wide spectrum of technologies, aiming to expand the CBC's open-source toolkit for construction contracts. It brings together technology experts, industry professionals, and academics to explore the transformative potential and practical application of emerging technologies. The CBC actively contributes to the creation of novel digital tools to enhance efficiency and innovation within the built environment.

Domain Specific Ontology

The CBC DAECO is an innovative project in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AECO) industry, focused on developing a comprehensive ontology for distributed services in the built environment. It aims to map complex AECO knowledge and systems, offering insights into distributed systems, including tokenized intelligent edge services. The ontology provides clarity and guidance for industry professionals. Developed collaboratively with partners and CBC consortium members, DAECO ensures relevance and accessibility. It serves as a foundational framework for understanding and navigating distributed AECO environments, facilitating informed decision-making and enhancing industry efficiency.

Policy and Compliance Initiatives

The Policy and Compliance Initiative led by CBC's Academic Leadership involves a close collaboration with prominent blockchain platform developers. As an academic member of the Linux Foundation Hyperledger Initiative and contributor to R3 Corda, CBC is actively engaged in shaping industry standards and regulatory frameworks. Their focus areas encompass Intellectual Property (IP) protection, Automated Payments, and Automated Dispute Resolution. Serving as a digital technology think tank in construction, CBC is committed to publishing impactful white papers and scientific studies, contributing to the evolution of policy and compliance in the construction and blockchain sectors.

Affiliated Projects

The CBC enthusiastically embraces associated projects that align with its vision. CBC's commitment to innovation and advancement within the construction and blockchain domains leads it to actively adopt projects that resonate with its mission. Whether it's initiatives that explore novel technologies, industry standards, or regulatory frameworks, CBC is eager to engage with endeavors that share its dedication to driving positive change in the AECO sector. This proactive approach to project adoption allows CBC to stay at the forefront of industry developments and contribute meaningfully to the transformation of the industry.
